DVD screenings and rawfood potlucks, advertized in the newspaper, bring many new people in. My ads say: "Get free of pain and lose weight with raw foods!" Another one is: "Reduce your carbon footprint, Save our earth! Learn how from this Eating DVD!"

Distribute Flyers with this Ann Wigmore chart on one side, and Your Info on the other, that's your name/tel/email and pictures of GoGreen sprouter, Samson juicer, etc. Invite all your flyer recipients to your next DVD show or potluck.

It's called "upselling" or "back-end sales" – people come to you for one thing and buy another.

For instance, sell cheap Green Smoothies at the farmer's market. Blend them fresh in front of customers. Then give out your flyers.

Know your products! The more you Tell, the more you Sell.

Profits are not something we decide on (except for the Sprouter we invented). The Importer or US Manufacturer sets the MAP, that's minimum advertized price. We are all – distributors like ourselves and local dealers like you – required to sell at MAP. If we don't, the supplier refuses to ship to us. We call them the Map Police.

Your goal is to make it past that magic 5-year mark. Dr. Phil reckons 90% of businesses fail in the first year. Of the ten percent that make it, 90% of them fail within five years.

Pretty bleak. But I believe it does not apply to us! Because we are giving a service that's needed. We are helping to change lifestyles. All the powers of the Universe come to serve a sincere heart.

Still, your sincere heart must focus on profits to stay in business. So keep good financial records, be clear where your best income is coming from, and advertize that the most.

If you find it's Green Smoothies, then place small classified ads, e.g. "FREE Green Smoothie recipes & taste tests at Brooklyn farmer's market Saturday June 3. Transform your life with blended raw food."

Cheap classified ads work better than big display ads.

Don't advertize juicers if they're not your biggest income. At the same time, don't drop the juicers. It's the Wal-Mart principle – the more products you offer, the more shoppers will flock in. And refer their friends, "Oh I got it there."

The more people you give your flyer to, the higher your income will go. And the more free time you'll enjoy to do what you love.

• Loss of Genetic Biodiversity – which is a bigger threat to extinction of life on earth than is global warming; the Global Supermarket and the Corporations that stock its shelves are killing biodiversity, selling 6 apple varieties while nearly 100 go extinct. Toxic genetically engineered crops (with their antibiotic markers and allergens) are cross-breeding into heirloom crops, via unwitting pollinators such as wind and birds;

 
• Excess Garbage – only processed and packaged foods, like a bag of chips, create so much trash.

Small businesses, ecologically responsible, locally owned and globally linked, are today's alternative to the exploitation of big corporations making big bucks for the few, while the many suffer.

In fact, you can work WITH your local supermarkets. Grow organic heirloom greens for them.

One person asks Al Gore:

"What can I do in my life to reduce my carbon emissions, my own carbon footprint?"

Sadly Al Gore does not give the correct answer. He talks of inaccessible solutions such as an expensive hybrid car.

The United Nations gives a clear guide to reducing YOUR carbon footprint. In November 2006, its Food & Agricultural Organization (FAO) reported:

"The livestock sector generates more greenhouse gas emissions than transport. It is also a major source of land and water degradation.

Livestock use 30 percent of the earth’s land surface, including 33 percent of the global arable land to produce feed for livestock ... some 70 percent of former forests in the Amazon have been turned over to grazing.

The livestock business is among the most damaging sectors to the earth’s scarce water resources, contributing to water pollution and the degeneration of coral reefs.

The major polluting agents are animal wastes, antibiotics and hormones, chemicals from tanneries, fertilizers and the pesticides used to spray feed crops.

Widespread overgrazing disturbs water cycles. Significant amounts of water are withdrawn for the production of feed." (report  by Henning Steinfeld, Chief of U.N. FAO Livestock Information & Policy)

It's torture for each one of them. Torture for our earth. And torture for your arteries. Your heart and bones, liver and lungs, do not want the saturated fat of fish and birds, nor their chemical and bacterial pollutants.

Ocean fish are an equally BIG no-no! FAO (UN Food & Agricultural Org.) reports in March 2005:

"Seven of the top ten marine fish species are fully exploited or overexploited. Stock depletion undermines the wellbeing of underwater ecosystems." (State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture report)

“Almost1,000 whales, dolphins and porpoises die every day in nets and fishing gear. That’s one every two minutes," reports Dr Susan Lieberman, Director of WWF's Global Species Program.
